What is the symbolism of vampires in a dream?

I keep dreaming of vampires, either some from fiction or just some random vampires. They are all beautiful and wont hurt me and when I try to research the meaning they only talk about when Vampires are attacking you in your dreams. In all my dreams the vampires are trying to protect me not hurt me.

From what I've read Vampires mean Blood or death, so being protected, and not attacked maybe it means you feel safe from death.

I can get The Hidden Meaning of Dreams by Craig Hamilton-Parker really cheap

- free, just type in your noun / verb. Not all will apply. Another book is the one by Ibn Sireen, dream interpreter.

Regards

I've always been particularly interested in Jungian theory and interpretation of dreams, but also have a strong scientific mind too. Recently I have been thinking are dreams just the effect of reduced oxygen flow to the brain during sleep and so a mishmash of images from past experiences with no meaning? Or do they in fact have a deeper meaning that links to some kind of greater social unconscious?

Dream Analysis can never be objective, only subjective. That isn't to say you can't understand patterns & generalities of meaning which might apply across a proportion of a large number of subjects, but you can never say that these conclusions will apply to everybody.
It would be dangerous to treat anything that cannot be repeated & tested as a science. It may be pseudo science but don't forget there is a basic understanding behind many pseudo-sciences and sometimes they can give useful insights that are lost to the purely rational & empirical.
