Do dreams really suggest anything?
Question by mattb77: Do dreams actually mean anything?
I've been hunting into the research of dreams a little, and when comparing it to some of my dreams it appears to make sense. Nevertheless, on other occasions I can't possibly see how they could mean something ( ie. one of my most up-to-date wacky dreams, cylons invading atlantis which just happens to be my grandfather's garage, with teenage Salim from the
new film "slumdog millionaire" being there too)
so my primary query,
is there any proven scientific link In between your dreams and your feelings, emotions or character?
I deliberatly hav'nt catogorized this in "social science>dream interpretation" as I worry it could be a small biased on the subject, so I am trusting you in phycology/biology not to be biased either.

if your normal like most people, no, they dont mean squat!
Teeth falling out means you have money worries? WTF? How?
In fact, if you read two different books on dream interpretation, they will interpret the same type of dreams as having different meanings.
Its about as reliable as astrology!
Also dreams only last 5 minutes! they may seem longer but theyre not it’s just a brain process- the brain takes a while to make sense of what you are thinking
On the other hand, it might also be true that dreams are magic communications from the future, or from God, or from some mystical reality. And every dream is really a message that’s trying to tell you something. But whoever is telling you these messages is doing it in the most cryptic way so that you need to buy a Dream Encyclopedia from Barnes & Noble in order to translate.

There is no proof that dreams and interpretations of dreams can be grounded in anything ‘Proven’.
Any interpretation of a dream is just that and nothing more. For example, in my adolescence I used to dream about a white horse that would rear up. Ok, one interpretation could be regarding a rampant but innocent bursting sexuality, another could be of a desire to run away from home and join a circus, another could be of a desire to see the world ~ of a desire to work with horses ~ become a vet or a blacksmith etc etc etc.
It is usually about the person presenting their interpretation ….THEIR interpretation and which is often based on a set of images that lack much of the context and emotional content relating to feeling in the background of it all.
Simply trying to describe the ‘feeling of a dream – the taste that might be experienced, the feeling like that of a textile, the colour and what it associates with for the dreamer……..
It is complex in the nebula and in an attempt to put it together. And, should an interpreter get close to the dreamers dream regarding any accuracy, how is anyone to Know if the interpretation is actually ‘Correct’.
Where is the Definitive Proof?
