The Sigmund Freud Guidebook to Marketing

The Sigmund Freud Guidebook to Advertising and marketing

Sigmund Freud, the father of psychoanalysis and psychotherapy, was a master marketer.

Assume about it. Back in the early 1900's, Freud begins speaking to men and women about their hidden desires, psychosexual devel0pment, personality structures and the id, ego and superego. What did people assume of him? Can you picture the reactions he got from people? His tips had been revolutionary and probably were seen by several as a bit wacky.

Now we accept these as the foundations of our profession and a lot of our culture accepts variations of these ideas as common psychology. We talk about folks being "defensive," "passive aggressive," or "in denial." All concepts originated by Freud.

So how did Freud go from a doctor with odd concepts to the founder of modern-day psychology?

Advertising
Freud got out of his office and place his concepts into the hands of as many individuals he could.

His marketing plan integrated:

Book writing
Correspondence with other believed leaders of the time (like Albert Einstein)
Lecturing globe-wide to spread the reach of his suggestions
Using the newest engineering of the time to share his ideas with as a lot of folks as possible (radio, video recordings of this speeches)

Freud understood that great suggestions that keep at residence do not spread and cannot adjust the world. So he spread the word employing all the tools accessible to him at the time. Not only was he effective in altering our understanding of the human mind, he grew to become quite wealthy in the approach.

[Side note: Freud's nephew, Edward Bernays, was the founder of modern day public relations, and taught American corporations to appeal to the public's unconscious desires to sell merchandise and companies. Told ya' Freud was a master marketer!]

So how can you develop a private practice marketing program just like Freud's?

At it really is extremely core, marketing and advertising is how corporations communicate with people about their items and companies. In spite of what you hear about the slow death of books, newspapers, and magazines, individuals are studying far more than ever. They are reading on the internet, text messages, emails. It's mentioned that youngsters today write and read far more than they did a generation ago. If you want to grow your practice, find out to be a decent writer and make time to create often.

The best location to create and share your suggestions is on a weblog that is a aspect of your web site. The blog is where you can share your concepts, communicate your knowledge and archive all your writing in one spot.

Reach out to colleagues, other experts, neighborhood members, latest and possible customers. Freud developed effective relationships around the globe. Those men and women liked his ideas and shared them with their communities. Through relationships and word of mouth, Freud's innovations spread far beyond his neighborhood place. It is so effortless to construct relationships and spread ideas now. In contrast to Freud, you won't require to mail letters, or get on a transatlantic cruise to speak to people all more than the world. You can use your blog, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Skype, or the excellent ol' telephone to connect with other people and construct potent practice-building relationships.
Freud shared his tips widely for free by means of his lectures and letters. The internet enables us to share so much info for free, that it is now expected by shoppers/clients and clientele. Using free of charge reports, newsletters and handouts, complimentary talk to calls, and sharing hyperlinks to appropriate articles and weblog posts are wonderful ways to share your experience for cost-free. This is an important step in helping individuals get to know, like and trust you so they feel you are the "go to" individual when they require assistance.
Freud employed radio and there are a couple of video/movie clips of him speaking in public. Today's equivalent is a site/weblog, Twitter, Facebook, on-line video. When you want to attract people to a organization, you need to go exactly where the individuals are to communicate with them. Did you know that each day far more folks pay a visit to Facebook than Google? Yikes! Use technological innovation to your benefit.

Freud did not just wake up a single day and turn out to be the Father of Psychotherapy. He utilized all the tools at his disposal to share his tips and influence. His results was not a fluke.

If Freud was commencing a private practice today, I bet he'd be on Twitter proper now sharing his thoughts on dream analysis.

What ideas do you want to spread? How can you use today's technology to promote your practice?

....there are countries in the world where more people than in other countries DO NOT HAVE TO spend every single second of their lives thinking HOW TO GET SOMETHING TO EAT ..they can spend more their free time just sitting and thinking instead......and they think, talk, lecture and think up ideas better or worse.it's just the Freud's case........there are many countries in the world that are densly populated with terribly ill and infected people - even though they are ill and dying more often than in other countries, they just cannot think up ideas how to overcome this horror....because they are weak, hungry and their countries are ruled by mentally ill despots....

The book in which he originally offered to the world his interpretation of dreams was pondered over by scientists at their leisure, not to be read in a few hours by the average alert reader. Freud himself realized the magnitude of the task which the reading of his magnum opus imposed upon those who have not been prepared for it by long psychological and scientific training and he abstracted from that gigantic work the parts which constitute the essential of his discoveries.
Dream psychology is the key to Freud’s works and to all modern psychology. With a simple, compact manual such as Dream Psychology there shall be no longer any excuse for ignorance of the most revolutionary psychological system of modern times.
